Using Play (http://www.playframework.org/) and MongoDB (http://www.mongodb.org/) via Heroku & MongoLab we can create a free ($!) stateless, scalable web service for our Android Application to use. This session will teach you how to send JSON messages between Play and Android and persist that data to MongoDB via Morphia.

About the Presenter:
Pat Cullen is the architect and main developer on a new in-house web application being built at isConsilium, Inc. Today his focus is pushing the project towards its summer (2012) 1.0 release as well as being an active member of the local development community. Starting with Visual Basic near the turn of the century, Pat found a passion for writing code. From VB he moved on to Perl/CGI then C++/C# and then on to Java. After being exposed to various web frameworks such as Spring MVC and Struts, Pat has found that the ease of use of the Play framework unparalleled in the Java world. If he is not coding, Pat can be found running around the capital district as he is an active member of multiple local running clubs.
