Come and be part of an inaugural event where innovation meets public health!
Imagine if a simple app could tell you where to get more exercise, shop for healthy foods, and get information from health experts right in your community. That’s the promise of the first-ever New York State Health Data Code-a-thon where we need innovative ideas to help stem the “twin epidemic” of obesity and diabetes.
The theme for the code-a-thon is “Healthy Connections = Healthy Communities.” The goal is to leverage your own personal experiences, creativity, and design expertise, while engaging with health experts and open data leaders, to turn novel ideas into mobile/web-based tools that help New Yorkers take control of their health by linking them to resources within their communities.
Whether it’s a person who wants to find bike trails for exercise or a mom looking for places to find fresh produce to encourage healthy eating, or the public health professional who wants to help a patient find a prevention program close to their home, these tools will deliver local, at-your-fingertip answers to these practical questions.
We invite you to join us at the New York State Health Data Code-a-thon, which will take place during “NY Innovates” – a week-long event that explores the creative use of technology and data to solve the challenges of tomorrow.
Mark your calendar and join the fun! Those interested in participating in the Code-a-thon can register here:
